“Arrest by Proxy (Arrest of a Person for an Offence of Another Person) is illegal and Unconstitutional in Nigeria”.

It is illegal for police or any security agency to arrest any person for an offence committed or suspected to have been committed by another person. No matter the offence and the conduct of a suspect, his family members, friends, associates and mates cannot be arrested, charged or tried for his actions. Criminal liabilities cannot be assumed, transferred or inherited.

See section 35 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999.

“How to Save An About To Be Bounced Cheque in Nigeria”

An about to be bounced/dud bank Cheque can be remedied. The issuer of the Cheque should send a countermand order (counter instruction) to his bank ordering it not to place value on such Cheque. He can also send notice to the Payee not to present the Cheque to any bank.

“FALSE TESTIMONY IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE”.


Lying, misrepresentation and giving of false testimony/evidence by any person in any case, orally or in writing, on oath or not, is a criminal offence(Perjury). It is punishable with7 years or 14 years imprisonment or life imprisonment.

See sections 117 and 118 of the Criminal Code and sections 156 and 158 of the Penal Code.

It is an offence for any person to falsely present himself as a director of a company. It is punishable with 2 years imprisonment or fine of #100 for each day he so acts.
